Krapp's Last Tape
SHOWTIMES: Monday to Saturday at 12:10 pm, "Happy Hour" Friday at 6:10 pm and "Date Night" Saturday at 7:30 pm
Anton de Groot, the 2011 Emerging Director at Lunchbox Theatre, will officially don his director’s cap for the showcase production of Samuel Beckett’s classic, Krapp’s Last Tape. Throughout the 2010/2011 Lunchbox Theatre season de Groot assisted professional directors on numerous productions including Ways and Means, In Flanders’ Fields, and Tuesdays and Sundays. The showcase production featuring his directing debut is the culmination of the year’s work and designed to highlight his talents to the greater community.
Krapp’s Last Tape finds Krapp on his 69th birthday, reviewing one of his annual birthday audio tapes – the one he recorded at 39. We watch as Krapp encounters the younger version of himself, and faces the the bravado and sincerity of the ambitions and dreams he carried. As he embarks on yet another annual recitation, he must ask himself who he is today and whether there is hope still ahead or nothing but regret.
Tickets to the Emerging Director production are $10 and can be booked online, or by phone at 403-265-4292 x 0.
