Suncor Energy Stage One Festival Submissions

Each year, through the generous support of Petro-Canada, Lunchbox Theatre is able to workshop scripts through the Suncor Energy Stage One Festival, our new play development series. In 2011 some successful playwrights will receive commissions for future production at Lunchbox Theatre. All chosen playwrights will receive dramaturgical support, a workshop with a professional director and actors and, depending on the stage of development, either a closed or public reading. 

Lunchbox Theatre currently invites playwrights to submit one-act plays or play ideas for consideration. All plays must eventually run approximately 50 minutes. Submissions are not limited to comedies and musicals but content should be suitable for Lunchbox Theatre audiences – excessive use of foul language or nudity may limit the possibility of production. 

Who can apply?

Anyone can apply though application requirements are different for established playwrights versus emerging or aspiring playwrights.

Parameters for submission:

Established playwrights previously produced by or known to Lunchbox Theatre must submit:

• playwright's resume
• a history of any development the script has received thus far
• premise of the play
• plot outline for basic structure of the play

Emerging or aspiring playwrights must submit all of the above AND a minimum of 15 pages of script for the piece they are proposing or a completed draft if possible.
