UPDATE ON CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) & LUNCHBOX THEATRE

Status as of March 27, 2020

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the cancellation of the remaining productions in our 2019/2020 season. This decision is to ensure the health and safety of our patrons, staff and community, and uphold the restrictions and recommendations put in place by Alberta Health Services (AHS), as well as the provincial and federal government to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

In addition to the already cancelled production of A TENDER THING, we will be cancelling both NASHVILLE HURRICANE (from April 18 to May 9, 2020) and 6 GUITARS (from April 22 to May 9, 2020), written by Chase Padgett and Jay Hopkins and performed by Chase Padgett.

For patrons who have purchased tickets to any of these productions, we will work with you to provide alternate arrangements for your ticket purchase. This includes PlayPass holders and single ticket buyers. One of the options that we hope you will consider is making a donation to Lunchbox Theatre for the value of your ticket. Your generosity means so much to us at this time, and will help us to move forward. We also understand you may want to defer your ticket to our 2020/2021 season or receive a refund, and we are happy to accommodate you in the best way possible.

Our Box Office will be contacting ticket holders directly. In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns about your tickets, please email us at boxoffice@lunchboxtheatre.com.

In addition to these cancellations, we will also have to put The Stage One Festival of New Canadian Work, scheduled for May 11 to May 30, 2020, on hold. We will look toward scheduling our play development workshops and readings at a later date. If you have submitted a script for this year’s Stage One program, it will be kept and considered for development once the program has been rescheduled.

All of us at Lunchbox Theatre want to say THANK YOU to each and every one of you. In this season of togetherness, we could not have done this without you – our patrons, partners, volunteers, artists and friends. You have made our 45th season truly incredible, and we are so proud of each and every production we were able to bring to our stage. We also want to thank you for your ongoing patience and understanding at this time. We look forward to your continued support as we embrace these changing times ahead, and we thank you for 45 years of exceptional one-act theatre here in Calgary.

If you have any additional questions about this announcement or would like to coordinate an interview with members of the Lunchbox team, please reach out to our Director of Marketing and Communications at marketing@lunchboxtheatre.com.
